Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha is a celebrated Nigerian actress, film producer, director, influencer and speaker whose work has made her one of Nollywood’s most respected performers. Born on March 12, 1980, in Lagos State and originally from Oraifite in the Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, she has built a prolific career in the Nigerian film industry spanning more than two decades.

She attended Onward Nursery and Primary School in Lagos before completing her secondary education at Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha in Anambra State. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance from Lagos State University (LASU), grounding her academic foundation before embarking on her creative career.

With pure talent, sheer aptitude and a passion for acting, Chioma made her acting debut in 2000 with the movie “The Apple” where she acted as an obstinate 17-year old who felt she was sufficiently matured for marriage. Since then, she has appeared in more than 350 movies, consistently delivering compelling performances across genres.

Her talent has been recognised with numerous honours, including the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Sins of the Flesh in 2007 and the Afro Hollywood Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role in 2010. In 2025, she also won the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for Best Lead Actress for her role in Seven Doors.

Beyond acting, Chioma has produced and co‑produced several films and launched Masterclass With Chioma, a platform that mentors and trains aspiring actors and filmmakers. She has also served as a brand ambassador for major commercial brands, including Globacom Nigeria, Omo Detergent and Erisco Foods.

She is best known for her ability to encapsulate the persona of the characters she plays in her movies bringing credibility to her roles.
