Lagos State University (LASU) has recorded two significant infrastructure milestones at its Epe Campus, with the inauguration of a 350-seater Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre and the ground-breaking ceremony for the New Faculty of Engineering Complex.‎‎

The 350-seater CBT Centre, funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), was formally inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi OLATUNJI-BELLO, mni, NPOM, in the presence of members of the University Management, principal officers, other university officials and, staff of the Epe Campus.

In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor commended the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed TINUBU, GCFR, for the funding support LASU has received through TETFund. She also acknowledged the support of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola SANWO-OLU, and his commitment to the development of the University.‎‎

Speaking on the genesis of the CBT Centre, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) and Director, Directorate of Special Intervention, Professor Oseni Taiwo AFISI, explained that the recurring challenges associated with conducting computer-based tests for students informed the Vice-Chancellor’s vision to establish a dedicated facility at the Epe Campus. He appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for her commitment to the development of the University.

‎The Centre was thereafter formally inaugurated to enthusiastic applause from members of the University community.

‎‎The commissioning was followed by the ground-breaking ceremony for the New Faculty of Engineering Complex, further expanding LASU’s infrastructure for engineering education at the Epe Campus.‎‎

At the ground-breaking ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor commended the Head of Epe Campus, Professor Elkanah Olaosebikan OYETUNJI, for his preparedness and commitment to the development of the Campus.

In the same vein, Professor AFISI appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for her leadership and effective networking, which he noted had attracted significant interventions and developmental opportunities to the University. He also commended the Head of Campus for his proactivity.‎‎

The Head of Epe Campus expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and members of the University Management for their continued support, while members of the Epe Campus community also conveyed their appreciation for the University’s sustained attention to the development of the Campus.

The ceremony culminated in the formal turning of the sod by the Vice-Chancellor, accompanied by principal officers of the University, signalling the commencement of the New Faculty of Engineering Complex project.‎‎

The two infrastructure milestones further reflect LASU’s continued investment in facilities that support teaching, learning, research, and the expansion of its academic capacity.
