The Lagos State University (LASU) has formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global Toxicology & Technology Alliance (GTTA), a US-based international non-governmental organisation founded by Nigerian scholar Igbagbosanmi *BAMIDELE* in Indianapolis, Indiana.‎‎

Formalised on Thursday, 10th September 2026, the strategic alliance aims to advance sustainable agriculture, environmental science education, technological innovation, and applied scientific research through collaborative academic initiatives and community engagement programmes.‎‎

Under the framework of the agreement, both institutions will collaborate across several key areas, including student and staff training focused on technology-driven sustainable agriculture, toxicology, and environmental stewardship. The partnership will also encompass joint research projects targeting soil health, soil testing, waste management, and environmental safety.

Furthermore, GTTA is committed to providing financial and technical assistance to modernise and strengthen LASU’s Agricultural and Environmental Sciences laboratories, with project funding support ranging between ₦500,000 and ₦5,000,000 annually.

‎‎To operationalise the agreement, a Joint Implementation Committee (JIC), comprising representatives from both institutions, will be established to oversee annual work plans, monitor execution, and evaluate project performance. The agreement ensures that intellectual property arising from joint research will be jointly owned, while LASU retains full institutional rights over all academic outputs generated within its facilities.‎‎

The Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi *OLATUNJI-BELLO*, mni, NPOM, in a brief remark, welcomed the partnership, describing it as timely for elevating the School of Agriculture and Faculty of Environmental Sciences in the University. She assured that LASU would ensure full adherence to the terms of the agreement.‎

‎The partnership further underscores a shared dedication to bridging science and innovation with community impact, linking scientific discovery directly to sustainable food initiatives and environmental awareness campaigns across the region.‎‎
