NATIONAL FEMALE STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA HONOURS LASU VICE-CHANCELLOR WITH OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AWARD…decorates her as National Matron

The National Female Students’ Association of Nigeria (NFSAN), has honoured the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola OLATUNJI-BELLO, mni, NPOM, with the National Outstanding Leadership Award in recognition of her advocacy, dedication, selfless service and exemplary leadership towards the development, and welfare of Nigerian students and youths. The association also conferred on, and decorated her with the prestigious title of National Matron of Female Students in Nigeria during a courtesy visit to the University.
The award, tagged “Top Most Outstanding Female Vice-Chancellor”, was presented to the Vice-Chancellor on Monday, 15th June 2026, in her office, on the Sixth floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.
The NFSAN delegation was led by its National Vice-President, Comrade Hawawu AJIBOYE, who commended Professor Olatunji-Bello, for her outstanding achievements in higher education administration and her commitment to empowering female students. She noted that the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership style, dedication to academic excellence and support for students have made her a role model for young women across the country.


Comrade Ajiboye emphasised the importance of promoting and celebrating women in leadership positions, noting that visible female role models inspire thousands of young women to aspire to leadership and make meaningful contributions to society. She also highlighted the need for mentorship in nurturing the next generation of female leaders.
The NFSAN National Vice-President further stated that the conferment of the National Outstanding Leadership Award and the title of National Matron of Female Students in Nigeria was in recognition of the Vice-Chancellor’s impactful leadership and unwavering support for the advancement of female students and youths.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola OLATUNJI-BELLO, mni, NPOM, expressed appreciation to the association for the recognition, and congratulated its members on their commitment to promoting the interests and welfare of female students. She stressed the importance of mentorship and encouraged the students to remain focused, resilient and committed to excellence.
Distinguished Professor OLATUNJI-BELLO reaffirmed her support for students and expressed confidence in their ability to emerge as future leaders in various fields of endeavour. She subsequently dedicated the award to all female students of Lagos State University, urging them to continue striving for excellence and making positive impacts in the society.


The National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN), the apex female students’ body representing over 21.2 million female students both at home and in the diaspora, is an active, organised and collaborative association dedicated to providing a platform through which young women can amplify their voices, advocate for positive change and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Present at the meeting were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni AFISI, FSPSP, M.CIoD; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Oluwatoyin ENIKUOMEHIN; representatives of the Registrar and Bursar; Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Dr Lateef SHEKONI; and Senior Deputy Bursar, Mr Jerry JINADU.


Also in attendance were the Deputy Registrar and Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Lateef SALAMI, as well as staff members of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office and the Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR).
