Originally known as the Public Relations Unit, CIPR is divided into four (4) Units for effective administration:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Administrative Unit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Digital Communication Unit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information and Events Unit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Media Relations Unit<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The major duties of these units include, but are not limited to, the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Oversees the smooth running of the Centre<br>Head: Mrs Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, Deputy Regitrar\/Coordinator, CIPR<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>DIGITAL COMMUNICATION UNIT<br>\u2022 Manages all official social media platforms of the University, such as Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, and LinkedIn.<br>\u2022 Disseminates official information across the social media platforms.<br>\u2022 Creates content that enhances the image of the University.<br>\u2022 Builds followership and creates publicity for the University\u2019s programmes.<br>\u2022 Develops communication strategies for campaigns, projects, and events in the University.<br>\u2022 Keeps up with the latest advancements in digital communication technologies and trends.<br>\u2022 Ensures the smooth functioning, optimisation, and management of all official University digital channels.<br>\u2022 Interacts and engages with the University\u2019s publics and stakeholders.<br>\u2022 Aggregates feedback from the University\u2019s publics.<br>\u2022 Creates and stores multimedia content of the University on relevant official digital platforms.<br>\u2022 Tracks media coverage of the University to assess public perception and address inaccuracies or negative publicity.<br>\u2022 Live-streams and provides live reports University events on relevant social media platforms, as necessary.<br>Head: Mr Oluwaseun Jesuton Gbanja, Principal Public Relations Officer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>INFORMATION AND EVENTS UNIT<br>\u2022 Anchoring, coverage and reportage of University events.<br>\u2022 Drafts\/compiles content for bulletin stories.<br>\u2022 Production and circulation of the University\u2019s official bulletin (physical and soft copies).<br>\u2022 Prepares the schedule for the Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR) weekly radio programme at LASU Radio.<br>\u2022 Documentation and archiving of all University events for institutional records.<br>\u2022 Manages seating arrangements and labelling at events.<br>\u2022 Collaborates with the Protocol Unit, Vice-Chancellor\u2019s Office, and the University Ceremonies Committee to plan and organise relevant aspects of University events.<br>\u2022 Collaborates with the Digital Communication Unit to ensure adequate dissemination of information via digital channels.<br>\u2022 Sources information from invited officials and guests for proper recognition at University events.<br>Head: Ms. Pedetin Adebisi Ogun, Principal Public Relations Officer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MEDIA RELATIONS UNIT<br>\u2022 Anchoring, coverage and reportage of University events.<br>\u2022 Builds, manages, and maintains relationships between the University and traditional media (Traditional Print, Radio, Electronic Print Media, and Television).<br>\u2022 Extends invitations to journalists for coverage of University events.<br>\u2022 Arranges for representatives of the University to be interviewed by the media.<br>\u2022 Enhances the University\u2019s image and reputation through strategic communication.<br>\u2022 Ensures accurate and timely dissemination of information.<br>\u2022 Processes University advertorials for newspaper publications.<br>\u2022 Organises press conferences in collaboration with other units in the Centre.<br>\u2022 Manages public statements and media responses to protect the University\u2019s reputation during potential or real crisis situations.<br>\u2022 Drafts press releases and statements.<br>\u2022 Collaborates with the Digital Communication Unit to ensure consistent messaging across official digital platforms.<br>\u2022 Ensures that all media communications align with the University\u2019s values and brand.<br>\u2022 Reviews newspapers for Lagos State University-related stories.<br>\u2022 Creates jingles for University events.<br>Head: Mr Olaniyi Shamsudeen Jeariogbe, Chief Public Relations Officer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Social Media platforms: Like other 21st Century organisations, the University has also keyed into the social media trend by running Social Media accounts on popular platforms- X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram and LinkedIn. These platforms allow followers to share their views and comments about information posted, and also make enquiries and complaints.
